Blood gushed from the wound as the man stood and briskly walked away, blending into the bystanders. Unbeknownst to him, a hidden security camera on a nearby shop had captured his escape, though only his back was visible. He vanished before anyone could react.
Arthur died within minutes, his body succumbing to the rapid blood loss and the trauma inflicted by the fall and the poison.

Detective Grace McKenna arrived at the scene shortly after the police were alerted to the incident. With Arthur’s body surrounded by a pool of blood, she immediately ordered a forensic examination and began questioning witnesses.
The evidence was puzzling: a man had fallen from a great height, yet he had a stab wound in the neck. Additionally, toxicology reports would later reveal that his system contained lethal levels of arsenic. The case became a multi-faceted investigation.
The building’s security cameras provided the first clue. The footage showed Brian pushing Arthur over the balcony. When confronted, Brian quickly confessed, hoping to reduce his sentence by cooperating. However, his betrayal didn’t end there. During interrogation, he revealed that Veronica had been poisoning Arthur for weeks.
Detectives quickly arrested Veronica, who maintained a stoic silence throughout the questioning. Forensic analysis of Arthur’s medication bottles confirmed traces of arsenic, linking her directly to the poisoning.

Though the hooded man’s face wasn’t visible, the distinct scar on his hand was enough to identify him as Charles Reid, a local criminal with connections to Brian. It turned out that Brian, fearing that Arthur might survive the fall, had hired Charles to ensure Arthur’s death by delivering the final blow.

Dr. Lydia Crane’s autopsy report was clear: Arthur Cole had died primarily from the stab wound to his neck, which caused massive hemorrhaging. However, the arsenic in his system and the injuries from the fall had significantly weakened his body. Each of the three attempts on his life contributed to his death.
In court, Veronica was charged with attempted murder by poisoning, while Brian faced charges for both the push and orchestrating the stabbing. Charles Reid, the man who delivered the fatal stab, was found guilty of first-degree murder.
